The employment level and structure are determined by the present requirements
regarding teaching, research and organisation as well as by available financial
resources. The principles and the organisation of the staff policy are related
to the syllabus and structural guide-lines of each unit. Presently, the AGH University
of Science and Technology employs 3,960 full-time staff members.
The number of the University teachers grows with the increasing number of students.
The employment structure of the University teachers has been changed, too. The
number of professors and associate professors has been systematically increasing
as well. In the academic year 1998/99, the scientific degree of professor was
conferred upon 20 people. The Central Commission for Scientific Titles and Degrees
confirmed 25 theses qualifying for associate professor, and in consequence, 25
staff members attained the scientific title of associate professor.
The campus employees constitute 15.1% of the total number of the staff.
In the academic year 2001/2002, the University has 17,800 students (attending
full-time courses) and 10,800 extramural students. The total number of the students
of the first and second level studies amounts to 28.600 (for December 31, 2001).
The numbers at respective Faculties are shown in the graph below. Recently, the
number of both the students, and candidates for students, has been systematically
increasing.
The doctoral studies have been conducted for over 30 years. Today, there are 552
doctoral students at 11 Faculties. In addition, 926 people participate in different
postgraduate courses, held at 10 Faculties.
In the academic 2002/2003 the University has 18.587 students (attending full-time courses)
and 10.850 extramural students. The total number of the students of the first
and second level studies amounts to 29.437, as for 30th of November, 2002.
There are also 45 foreign students. The number of the University teachers amounts to 3962,
including 608 professors.
